Orange Harvest was created while the artist was spending time in Palestine summer 2019, after Gazaleh was unable to visit his great grandfathers orchard due to transportation issues and difficulty in locating the exact place, Gazaleh decided to do a piece dedicated to it, the Fedae’een or “freedom fighters” in the background look to be picking oranges but if you look closer they are gathering more fighters for the harvest. The back story to this is that Gazaleh’s great grandfather Saliba was kidnapped by the Fedae’een at the orchard and was put inside a well until he released funds to help the fighters buy weapons. Soon after he was rescued one of the fighters named Muhammad was captured and killed by the British forces, Sedo Saliba felt crushed and saddened when he saw Muhammad die, and said a prayer for him, even though he had kidnapped him, he was a martyr fighting for Palestine.
